Universal Mind Control
Common has done it again. This guy keeps churning out amazingness after amazingness after brilliance after perfection after fucking mind-blowing music. And he won’t stop, because he can’t stop. I have seen him live, he is awesome.
And he has a new album, ‘Universal Mind Control’ which is definently his best since ‘Be’
You need to get these songs NOW, and then you need to go out a buy the album because owning a copy of this would be so damn rewarding.
Common Feat Cee-Lo – Make My Day
Common Feat Pharrel – Universal Mind Control
While I’m at it. Here’s Jay-Z’s latest which samples Santogold’s ‘Shove It’ and if off the soundtrack for the upcoming Notorious B.I.G biopic ‘Notorious‘
Jay-Z Feat Santogold – Brooklyn (We Go Hard)
And here’s something cool by Modeselektor
Hova Hova Hova Hova
This is one post dedicated to one song.
The latest offering from Jay-Z’s upcoming ‘Blueprint 3‘
It’s amazing. The song uses the same sample as ‘Can’t Knock The Hustle’ used.
So damn chilled. Reminds me why Jigga is the best rapper there ever has been and ever will be.
Please note that this track does have a bit of a DJ on it, and it is not the full track, but it is great quality.
Rest assured that the full track will be posted here once it drops.
Kanye West 2nd Single – “Heartless”
So alot of bloggers have put up the snippet of “Heartless,” West’s apparent 2nd single of ‘808s & Heartbreak.‘ Well without further fucking ado, I give to you, the full.
You’re welcome.
In other news, I purchased myself 2 tickets to his Sydney show on the 6th, hooray. However, Homebake is on the day same day, which really, really, really fucking sucks, because I love Homebake and am going to said event, and will have to leave early to be at Acer Arena by 7pm in order to get a decent spot on the dancefloor. I thought about not getting tickets, but then I saw that NAS is supporting, and Nas is fucking god. I hope he drops mostly Illmatic stuff to alienate the undeniably shit kiddies that will crowd Acer that night.
Back to the single, ‘Heartless,’ this is the Kanye you love, If “Love Lockdown” put you off, this will turn you back on. He is still using that kind-of-annoying-but-sometimes-okay auto-tune effect, but at least he is rapping on this one.
T.I, Kid Cudi, Weird Al Yankovic, M.I.A
It’s been a week and a bit since I made a post, I’ve been quite sick and lazy. Hm. Well, T.I’s “Paper Trail” debuted at number 1 in the U.S, selling almost 600,000 copies in it’s first week, and on the Hot 100 singles charts ‘Live Your Life’ jumped from 80 to number 1, breaking the record that T.I already held for biggest single jump on the chart.
So he’s album is much, much sought after at the moment, and it deserves all the attention, rapreviews.com gave it 9/10, and they are mostly on point with their reviews.
So it makes sense to post up some tracks from ‘Paper Trail‘ that didn’t exactly make the cut, but it’s new T.I, so go nuts.
T.I – I Know You Miss Me (CD Quality)
T.I – Collect Call (CD Quality)
T.I – Get Dat (has a DJ talking at the start)
T.I Feat B.O.B & Ludacris – On Top Of The World (Remix) (Added verse from B.O.B)
Weird Al Yankovic is set to do for T.I what he did for Chamillionaire, ie, not much. Weird Al‘ is bringing out a new album and his first single is a parody for T.I’s ‘Whatever You Like.’ I’m not a fan, but you might be.
Weird Al Yankovic – Whatever You Like
The Crookers remix of Kid Cudi’s ‘Day N Nite’ is HUGE, at least in the Sydney electro scene. So I thought you hipsters might like to hear this. It’s the original remixed with an additional verse from everybody’s least favourite, but entertaining, ex-dipset crybaby Jim Jones.
Kid Cudi Feat Jim Jones – Day N Nite (Remix)
Everybody loves M.I.A. Lately, the U.S have been going crazy over her, rappers sampling her voice for major tracks, ‘paper planes’ blowing up on the charts, and now Jay-Z has hopped on a ‘Boyz’ to make a remix. So…
M.I.A Feat Jay-Z – Boyz (Remix) (there is an annoying website-promoter trying to sell his website throughout the song, but he doesn’t really detract much from the track’
I Know You Got Soul
Ah, so recently I have had a few of my mates asking me about Hip Hop infused with jazz. You know, that hip hop that you show people who say they ‘hate rap’ and after hearing it they are like ‘hm I guess rap is ok then!
So I decided to put up a few of my favourite hippity hop tracks which have that jazzy feel about them, that real soulful feel. Download these, you won’t regret it.
If you liked the Kanye West song I posted in an earlier post (’We Can Make It Better’) then you will LOVE these:
Pete Rock & CL Smooth – T.R.O.Y (They Reminisce Over You)
Little Brother – So Fabulous (samples ‘Wild & Peaceful’ By Kool & The Gang, amazing, amazing beat. The sample was used so well)
Slum Village Feat D’ Angelo – Tell Me
Souls Of Mischief – ‘93 Till Infinity
A Tribe Called Quest – Jazz (We Got)
The Roots – Mellow My Man (one of the best songs, ever.)
Miles Davis Feat Nas & Olu Dara – Freedom Dance Jazz
Now, I have all of Guru’s Jazzamattaz album series, unfortunately though, I don’t have them on computer, but you should definently check those albums out. They are perfect if you are looking for that jazz-hip hop fusion music.
Enjoy.
The Killers, The Cool Kids, Death From Above 1979
The Killers are much-loved, much much much loved. So it makes sense that their first single, “Human,” from their upcoming album ‘Day & Age.,’ will be much blogged about in the coming days. It is said that fans of ‘Mr Brightside’ (ie, everyone) will love this song. Personally I prefer ‘When You Were Young’ over ‘Mr Brightside,’ and while I love this track, I do not see it being as loved as Brightside is. That being said, it’s still a fucking cool song:
The Killers – Human (Fixed Link)
Fuck! The Cool Kids are so damn fucking cool. Mickey and Chuck rocked the fuck out of the stage at this years St Jerome’s Laneway Festival, without a doubt the best set of the day (and the likes of Broken Social Scene, The Presets and The Panics delivered awesome sets that day as well). New tracks by The Cool Kids leak all the damn fucking time, and I can’t resist collecting them all, every track is just as cool as the other, these are no exception.
The Cool Kids – Fresher Than You
Before he joined MSTRKRFT, JFK used to be part of an amazing band which you have heard of called ‘Death From Above 1979′ and if you haven’t gotten into these guys yet, do it, now. Fans of any genre from hip hop to metal will LOVVVVVVVVVVVVE this, and if you don’t you obviously have three 21st chromosomes (no offense to anyone who actually does)
Death From Above 1979 – Losing Friends
Death From Above 1979 – Blood On Our Hands
And as an extra, fall in love with this classic Bjork track:
from Tom Morello to OutKast
And the song of the day goes to a little gem off The Fabled City, a recent album by none other than Tom Morello, posing as a Nightwatchman and sounding completely different to what you would expect if you know the name ‘Nightwatchman’ purely by the fact that Mr Morello is a member of Rage Against The Machine.
This album is much more mellow than your typical RATM track. You will like this.
Tom Morello: The Nightwatchman – Whatever It Takes
Now, onto Cold War Kids second effort, Loyalty to Loyalty, which is just as good if not better than their debut Robbers & Cowards. There is no song here as catchy and loveable as ‘Hang Me Up To Dry’ but, well, that song is hard to live up to. This song is great.
Now, Weezer released their latest album ‘The Red Album‘ quite some time ago to alot of critical acclaim. However, just in case no one has checked it out I shall give you a song which is, for the lack of a better word, perfect. Rivers Cuomo has not sounded this good in awhile. Seriously, in my opinion, this is definently in the top 10 songs I have heard this year.
Not much is heard about Wiley, aside from ‘Wearing my Rolex’ and the fact that he tried to rap over a badly done Daft Punk sample, and while he is in no way on Dizzee Rascal’s level, he is definently a good grime MC. While this track has a bit of a cringe-worthy hook, the beat is BANGING, if you love grime beats, which you do, you will love this beat.
Now, two of my favourite songs ever are by the absolutely fucking amazing duo of Big Boi and Andre 3000, collectively known as OutKast. If you don’t know much about OutKast, then you are really missing out on some good fucking brilliant, genius music. Forget all that wanky wannabe-elitist narrow-minded bullshit about ‘all rap is not real music’ that you usually hear from people who are too scared to let their minds venture outside of the box they stuffed it in back when they did music for their HSC – this is some real fucking music.
Paper Trail
Woke up late this morning (well, actually, early for me) and missed one of my tutorials. Oh well. Let’s see what’s on the internet shall we? It’s only just over a week until T.I’s 6th studio album “Paper Trail” hits stores all over the U.S. So it only makes sense that it should hit the internet early right? RIGHT.
Now without a doubt I will go to the store as soon as Hum records gets this, so should you. If you’re one of those casual mainstream rap fans who had fun to Lil’ Wayne’s ‘Tha Carter III‘ then you are going to completely forget that album even existed after you hear “Paper Trail”.
Because “Paper Trail” is FUCKING AWESOME.
Want proof?
T.I Feat B.O.B & Ludacris – On Top Of The World
T.I – Ready For Whatever (explains why he did what he did, ie, purchase all those guns that will see him go to prison next year)

Love Lockdown
So we got our first taste of the first single from Kanye’s upcoming ‘808s and Heartbreak’ album. A few hipsters got on their music blogs, got trigger-happy and started posting up the UNMASTERED version of ‘Love Lockdown’ everywhere (the unmastered version features a hook which, well, sounds very amateurish and has heaps of undefined claps throughout the song).
Not this hipster, nooooooooooooo. I waited patiently until the MASTERED version leaked. And low and behold, it just did exactly that.
So here you go, you can now delete that unmastered, sucky version which made you think ‘what the hell!!!??’
This may still make you think ‘what the hell’ I personally think Kanye could have improved the verses. It sounds alot better though because the hook is mastered, he has added some more effects throughout the song as well.
Enjoy
